OnFocus Athlete of the Week, May 25th – May 31st
Saylor Timmerman – Lakeland Softball – Saylor pitched a gem in the Thunderbirds’ 1-0 marathon regional semifinal against Shawano, striking out a state record 29 in 13 innings. Saylor would follow that up with another 1-0 shutout, this time of 1 seed Mosinee.
Zach Nechuta – Mosinee Baseball – Zach was one error away from a perfect game, but threw a 5-inning no-hitter in the Indian’s 12-0 win over Abby/Colby to advance to the Regional Semifinals
Mac Koniczney & Ryan Bernick – Columbus Catholic Baseball – Mac and Ryan combined on a 5-inning no-hitter in the Don’s 19-0 win over New Lisbon. Koniczney would also hit a triple and have 4 RBI in the game.
Kaleb Cracraft & Nick Pittman – Athens Bluejay Baseball – Kaleb and Nick combined for a no-hitter in the Bluejays’ 17-0 5-innings win over Lake Holcombe/Cornell.
Ruth Steinman – Medford Softball – Medford’s 9 hitter had quite a week, scoring the game-winning run against New London and going a combined 2-4 with 2 doubles, 2 walks, and an RBI for the Regional Champion Raiders.
It took all 7, but the Medford Raiders moved on thanks to a walk-off single from Zayleah Leonhardt, scoring Ruthie Stienman.
