MARATHON COUNTY, WI (OnFocus) – A $10.1 million highway improvement project on WIS 29 in Marathon County is set to begin June 2, 2025. The project will enhance a key stretch of roadway between Purple Martin Lane and the Little Rib River, aiming to improve safety and travel efficiency in the region.
American Asphalt of Wisconsin will lead the project as the prime contractor. Planned work includes resurfacing the highway, replacing culvert pipes, and installing new guardrail at select locations.
Throughout the construction period, WIS 29 will remain open, with one lane of traffic maintained in each direction to minimize disruption for motorists. The project is expected to be completed by fall 2025, weather and construction progress permitting.
