Woodchucks Fall in Series Finale

The Woodchucks fall to the Rafters in the series finale with a score of 9-5. The Rafters advance to 9-1 on the season, adding to their lead in the division. The Woodchucks fall to 3-7 on the season with hopes of improving their record with their next two games in Madison.

The Chucks got off to an early lead in the first when a pickle situation between first and second allowed Amani Larry (New Orleans) to score from third amidst the confusion. The Rafters quickly tie it up after scoring on a wild pitch.

A four run third inning with two added in the fourth puts the Rafters up 7-1. The Chucks get it going in the 5th as Mark Shallenberger (Evansville) scores on a single by Ryan Sepede (BYU). A bases-loaded walk by Brock Watkins (BYU) scores Larry, advancing the score to 7-3.

The Chucks threaten in the 8th with runners in scoring position, but can’t drive in any runs. In the top of the 9th, the Rafters move two runners into scoring position and score two on an error. The Chucks score 2 on a bases loaded double by Brent Widder (Evansville), making the score 9-5. A single by Tre Hondras (John A. Logan Community College) drove in two more runs , but sadly that’s all the Chucks could muster for the night falling to the Rafters 9-7.
