Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Wood County Register of Deeds Tiffany Ringer will host her first campaign event, a Meet and Greet fundraiser at Nutz Deep II in Marshfield, on May 28.

Ringer was appointed to the position by former Governor Scott Walker, making this her first election. Senator Patrick Testin and Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker will be in attendance to endorse Ringer’s campaign.

“As a representative of the people of Wood County, I work for the people and they are my employers,” Ringer said. “I strongly believe in providing the best service possible. With that, I try to be as open and available to hear new ideas and consents. This is another great opportunity for individuals to meet me and learn more about our office.”

The Register of Deeds office is responsible for maintaining legal documents, from deeds to land contracts to birth and marriage certificates. These records support tax roll and GIS in the county. As the chief elected official on real estate, the Register of Deeds works to make these documents available as quickly as possible.

The office serves attorneys, realtors, funeral homes, title companies, and other county offices, plus the 73,000 residents of Wood County. Every year, 11,000 documents are processed.
Residents contact the office for a variety of reasons, such as to find more information about their property, changing a name on a record, or purchasing a copy. Though often requested, the Register of Deeds cannot give out legal advice, but will try to help as much as possible.

“As a public servant, it’s my team’s goal to serve the citizens of Wood County with the utmost respect and dignity they deserve,” Ringer said. “I love serving the people of Wood County every day. I am excited to continue to enhance technology to make their information more attainable and easier to find.”
