WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (OnFocus) – The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department is looking for a mother of a two-month-old who fled the city after a confrontation with police.

UPDATE: Child has been located

The department was investigating a possible child neglect/abuse case and was attempting to check on the wellbeing of the child. Officers attempted to make contact with the mother of the child, Haley N. Pelot, but when she spotted the officers she entered in as a passenger of a vehicle.

Her and the male driver of the vehicle drove off and when officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, they continued on and fled. A pursuit ensued but officers feared that the two-month-old may be inside of the vehicle so they stopped the pursuit and the vehicle exited the city.

The department is looking for a silver-colored 2002 Toyota Camry with a black front bumper. The license plate is: AHY 5345. The department has issued a warrant for Pelot’s arrest but they said in a Facebook post that her arrest isn’t the most important thing they are hoping to achieve.

“We need your help locating the vehicle, the driver, and Haley N. Pelot, but our primary concern is locating and assessing the wellbeing of the child,” the post said.

According to an Amber Alert sent out on Thursday afternoon, the baby is in need of prescription medication.

Pelot is 5’01” and 120 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.
