Wausau Cyclones Open 2022 Fraser Cup Playoffs at Rochester

(WAUSAU, WI)- The Cyclones are set to battle with the Rochester Grizzlies in the Division Semifinals of the 2022 Fraser Cup Playoffs. Game one takes place tonight March 11th at the Rochester Recreation Center, puck drops at 7:00pm. Game two of the series is Saturday at Marathon Park, puck drops at 7:10pm. The potential game three of the series takes place on Sunday, at the Rochester Recreation Center, puck drops at 1:00pm.

Over the course of the season, the Cyclones are (2-6) against the Grizzlies. Wausau has handed them 2 of their 9 total losses this season. Throughout the season the Cyclones and Grizzlies have had some close games, all but 2 games being decided by less than 2 goals. Luke Anderson has been a thorn in the side of Rochester all year long. Anderson has two goals and four assists against the Grizzlies in the regular season.

In the regular season, the Cyclones and Grizzlies have fairly similar power play percentages. Wausau with 25-127 (19.7%) and Rochester with 25-86 (29.1%). Along with similar power play percentages, the Cyclones and Grizzlies have very close save percentages. Wausau with 91.5% and Rochester with 93.1%.

Cyclones are expected to split the series between Zach Dosan, native of Rosemount, Minnesota and Mitch Miscevich from Niles, Illinois. Dosan ended the regular season with a (10-12-1-0) record and a .921 save percentage, meanwhile Miscevich finished with a (9-10-0-1) record and .909 save percentage. The Grizzlies are expected to have Zach Wiese in net for the series. Wiese comes into the weekend with an (20-2-1-1) record and a .927 save percentage.

With two wins in the series the Cyclones would advance to the next round of the Fraser Cup Playoffs, where they could possibly face the Peoria Mustangs or the Oregon Tradesmen. Oregon currently leads that series 1-0. Wausau would host another potential playoff game on Saturday, March 19 at 7:10pm.
