MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Facebook group Marshfield & North Wood County History features photos and memories from the area’s past. In recent months, North Wood County Historical Society volunteers have been scanning negatives from newspapers throughout the decades.

Recent images have featured photos of UpTown Bar on Central Avenue, Mrs. R. R. Williams being honored in 1968 as Marshfield’s Lady of Music, and a conference registration at the Hotel Charles.

“If you are enjoying these images, and we hope that you are, you should know there are thousands, probably tens-of-thousands, more just waiting to see the light of day,” the society shared. “Sorting, scanning, identifying, and indexing these images is a big project and we will need help to finish all the negatives.”

For those willing to help, call the historical society at 715-387-3322 to learn more. At this time scanning is typically being done on Wednesday and Saturday each week from 10 am – 2 pm. Any help appreciated.
