OnFocus –  At Tuesday’s Common Council meeting, Parks and Recreation Director Justin Casperson gave the council an update on what is happening at the construction site of the Vandehey Waters Project.

Casperson gave a general update saying the project is doing well because of the nice weather.

“Overall, the project has been going really well,” Casperson said. “The weather has been fantastic. Everything has been going really smoothly. Let’s hope that continues into the summer.”

Casperson noted that electrical boxes are being installed in the deep end of the pool as well as in the pool house for lighting. Construction crews are also working on the pumps for water circulation.

The main building is also being worked on this week as the plumbing has recently been completed and electrical trim is being added.

This week, the water slides that are above ground will be constructed and are expected to be completed by next week. Shade structures will also be added next week according to Casperson.

“The project is still on-schedule and on-budget,” Casperson said. “We hope to have an opening some time in early July.”

Crews broke ground on the project in July of last year and are in the middle of phase 3, the construction phase of the project.
