Two Juvenile Suspects Charged in Babcock Church Vandalism

On May 11, 2019, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department received numerous reports of vandalism in Babcock, which is in the Town of Remington in Wood County.

The criminal damage was believed to have occurred the night prior and consisted of anti-Christian slogans being spray painted on two churches as well as images of a swastika. Similar images were spray painted in the town park. Other private property, including a vehicle and propane tank, were also spray painted with inappropriate images that were sexual in nature.

On May 20, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department identified two juvenile individuals who admitted to causing the damage to the churches and other properties. The juveniles responsible will be referred to Wood County Human Services for charging. The names of the individuals involved will not be released due to their juvenile status.
