Mother’s Day Gifts and More at Turn Pike Greenhouse

Spring is here and with it, greenhouses are opening throughout Central Wisconsin. In Granton, owners Dusty and Brenda Schlinsog are open now for the 2020 season at Turn Pike Greenhouse.

Dusty expects this year to be a longer and more spread out growing season, due to COVID-19. To accommodate customers during the pandemic, Turn Pike is offering contactless and curbside pickup. Customers can simply private message the Turn Pike Facebook page to arrange a pickup time. Precautions at the greenhouse include cash register shields, hand sanitizer stations, and masks available for sale. Staff is also wearing rubber gloves.

“We care and we’re trying to be as accommodating as possible during COVID-19,” said Dusty. “We’ll take plants out to your vehicle, arrange curbside, and work with you to make sure you’re comfortable. We have masks for sale, and lots of people are also wearing masks and rubber gloves in, which is wise.”

Along with beautiful flowering plants, Turn Pike offers a wide selection of produce, herbs, vine crops, succulents, and more.

“We pretty much have everything, plus there are many new colors this year,” said Dusty. “Supporting the grow-your own-food-movement, also new this year are seed potatoes and onion sets. And very popular are tomatoes, peppers, vine crops, and herbs.”

Grab-and-go items include Amish canned goods, with Mary’s homemade caramel corn being a particular favorite.

With Mother’s Day approaching, Turn Pike has many hanging baskets and gift arrangements available.

“A great option is our popular Mother’s Day Fuchsia,” said Dusty. ” We grew amazing fuchsias this year. We have a very large selection of well-grown baskets and it’s always been an all-time Mother’s Day favorite.”

Brenda designs the gift arrangements, and can even make custom arrangements by request.

“People can bring in planters and she will fill them,” said Dusty. “We call her creations ‘Stylish Designs by Brenda’. We are always happy to fill customer’s planters.”

For Dusty, taking care of plants is second nature.

“I grew up on a farm and gardened and grew flowers forever and ever, so it was always in my blood,” he said. “We started here with one tiny greenhouse and we’ve grown year by year. We’re continually learning, too, and we have a wonderful desire for knowledge, so we just continually do more and learn more.”

He added that they are proud to offer plants that are not over-aged and not root bound, meaning that they can last through the summer. With a dedication to customer service, they are also happy to advise on how best to care for each plant.

From hydrangeas, petunias, and pansies to succulents and vines to hanging baskets, perennials, and whopper begonias and grasses, Turn Pike’s garden center and greenhouses have everything needed to beautify any home this spring and summer.

Turn Pike is also known as a destination location for all things falls. This year, they will grow 7,000 fall mums, and host a corn maze, pumpkin patch, hay ride, and petting zoo.

Visit Turn Pike Greenhouse at W2760 County Road H in Granton. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 8:00am-7:00pm, Sunday from 1:00pm-6:00pm.

To order and arrange curbside pickup, customers are encouraged to private message their Facebook page or call 715-238-7111.
