Torch Run for Special Olympics Bike Ride This Thursday

Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Local law enforcement rode bicycles from Marshfield to Wisconsin Rapids for the virtual Torch Run today in support of Special Olympics.

The officers and participants gathered at the Marshfield mall parking lot for a short ceremony at 9:45 a.m. before leaving at 10 a.m. They then traveled south on Central Ave. to 29th Street, turning east out of town.

Officers and athletes are getting involved in their communities across the state for the fun run/walk and bike virtual Torch Run event to deliver the Flame of Hope for the virtual Opening Ceremony on June 4.

The State Summer Games will not be meeting at UW-Stevens Point this year due to COVID-19, but Special Olympics Wisconsin has organized 11 virtual summer games which are outlined on its website.

The Celebration Ceremony will be live on the Special Olympics Wisconsin Facebook on June 4 at 7 p.m.
