On Tuesday April 7th, shortly before 9 am, law enforcement were dispatched to the Township of Cleveland for a reported stabbing. Prior to the officers arriving, the suspect fled in a vehicle taken from the residence.

Wood County Dispatch notified Marshfield Police Department at 9:11am to be on the lookout for a potential stabbing suspect who had been last seen westbound on HWY 153 near Stratford in a 2013 Ford Escape.

Moments later, Marshfield Police Department was dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at Galvin and 4th Street. The suspect’s vehicle was at the scene of the crash, but the suspect had abandoned his vehicle and taken off on foot. While tracking the suspect, officers received report that a suspect had stolen a Pontiac Grand Prix from a parking lot in the area.

At approximately 10:20, an officer from the Spencer Police Department observed a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle stolen from the business parking lot in Marshfield. The vehicle was traveling northbound on S. LaSalle near the intersection of Buse Street.

During this time, officers of the Marshfield Police were searching for the suspect and contacting individuals that may know the whereabouts of the suspect.

The officer of the Spencer Police Department attempted a traffic stop with the suspected vehicle, pursuit followed. The pursuit reached 85 MPH while traveling southbound on Hwy 13 towards Marshfield.

Local law enforcement deployed tire deflation devices at multiple locations. At the intersection of Oak Ave and Veteran’s Parkway, the suspect’s vehicle encountered the stop strips. The vehicle continued southbound on Veteran’s Parkway. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Chestnut Ave, the officer involved in the pursuit performed a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver disabling the vehicle.

Following the PIT maneuver, the patrol unit left the roadway. Right after going over the curb, the unit struck two trees on the terrance before coming back onto the roadway. The patrol vehicle struck the suspect’s vehicle for a second time. Both vehicles came to a stop prior to the intersection. The pursuit ended at approximately 10:32 am in Marshfield.

According to State Patrol, the officer involved was transported to Marshfield Medical Center as a precautionary measure.

The suspect, Brandon Noll of Stratford, is now in custody. The southbound lanes of Veteran’s Parkway was closed between the intersection of Oak and Chestnut Avenue as State Patrol documented the incident.

Marshfield Police Department, Spencer Police Department, CN Police,  Marathon County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol were on scene.

Marathon County Sheriff’s Captain Greg Bean confirmed to WAOW that one person had died, and the second was injured, after two people were stabbed in a home off County Highway P this morning.

“I want to let everybody know that the public is not in danger. Unfortunately, we do have a death form this incident and a second victim that’s in the hospital, hopefully recovering from his injuries,” he said to WAOW reporter Tom Lally.

Captain Bean said they do not believe the stabbing to be a random incident – and that the suspect and the victims knew each other.

Charges are being filed from multiple departments.
