MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – This weekend there are plenty of awesome things to help get you out of the house and into the community. Take a look at our suggestions below!

  1. ASHLEY STRONG “CELEBRATION OF DETERMINATION” (Saturday) – A special “Celebration of Determination” featuring the Gyspy Rose Band will be held for Marshfield teen Ashley Herman on Saturday, August 14 from 4pm-10pm.In January of 2021, Ashley was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a blood cancer that starts in the lymphatic system which helps the immune system fight infections.The popular Gypsy Rose Band is coming out of retirement to put on a show to celebrate the real rock stars: the Herman family! The event will take place at Outer Limits, 109300 County Road C in Spencer.The event will feature outdoor music (good old street dance style, rain or shine!) and there will be raffles and other fundraising opportunities. New custom t-shirts will be available for purchase. Admission is a $5 donation required at the door.
  2. 9TH ANNUAL REAL FREEDOM RACE (Friday and Saturday) – The 9th Annual Real Freedom Race – Breaking the Chains of Human Trafficking will take place in Necedah at the Lion’s Park on Saturday. The weekend fun kicks off with a silent auction, food trucks, vendors and guest speaker Suzanne Cox, Founder of Legacy of Purpose and Partner with Project Rescue. The weekend continues with a 5k, 10k and half-marathon run beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. and there will be games for kids and face painting. The event is trying to bring awareness to human trafficking issues in our area and across the world.
  3. ARPIN NATIONALS CAR SHOW (Saturday) – A weekend that includes tons of raffle prizes, door prizes, honor flight raffle, food, beverages, trophies for all classes, fun, family & friends will kick off at 10 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 14. The first 250 registered cars/trucks/motorcycles & garden tractors will receive a 2022 car show calendar. The show will be held at the Arpin Village Hall.We welcome your stories!
