The Hannah Center Celebrates New Graduates

Marshfield (OnFocus) – The Hannah Center, located in Marshfield, is celebrating another group of women who have recently graduated their program. The Hannah Center has been a resource for women in and around Marshfield since it opened its doors on June 1, 1993.

The Hannah Center’s primary focus has been, “to provide options for pregnant women who can no longer remain in her home environment,” according to their website. However, they have recently opened their program to any woman in crisis, whether pregnant or not. Since its beginning, over 200 women have been able to call the center their home.

Tricia Fancher, Program Coordinator for the Hannah Center, noted, “Within the last year, we had many new residents arrive at The Hannah Center. Each woman came looking to end a generational cycle of either poverty, homelessness, abuse, addiction, and legal issues.”

The Center teaches women important skills, like how to budget, communicate well, and have healthy relationships once they graduate the program. Currently, there are five women and eight children in the home. The ages of the children range from pre-teen to infant.

The Hannah Center is a non-profit organization that does not accept funding from the government. That means the Center relies on community funding to continue to assist women in crisis. To donate, visit their website www.thehannahcenter.com.

Additionally, they are looking for donations of specific items such as bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, lysol wipes, postage stamps, grocery gift cards, baby wipes, new pacifiers, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets.

If not in the position to donate money or items, The Hannah Center is also looking for donations of time. Fancher notes, “…you can fill out a volunteer application on our website. We are always seeking positive role models, life skill teachers, and those interested in working in Hannah’s Caring Closet.”
