As Marshfield area restaurants learned that they would be required to close their doors temporarily to help stop the spread of COVID-19, the community sprang into action to offer support. Today, residents are encouraged to participate in “The Great American Takeout,” a national movement to provide continued patronage to local businesses during this difficult time.

“We had many people place carryout orders, which was great!” said Andres Aguirre, manager at El Mezcal. “Our full menu is always available for carryout, so we at least had the basics in place to help us transition to carryout-only.”

Downtown at Nutz Deep II, there was a tremendous outpouring of community support. Another downtown restaurant, Mojo’s Pasta House Cajun Cookshack, also had many people placing orders for curbside pickup.

Blue Heron Brewpub also was pleased with the community’s response.

“It’s a learning for the community as well as for us,” said Rita Meier, owner. “We appreciated all the customers who supported us this past weekend.  The Fish Fry was a success and we look forward to more business.”

Along with being open for takeout (including curbside service and delivery for lunch service), they are also providing growler fills for $10 and house wine for $10 a bottle.  All other bottles of wine are half price.

“The entire situation is inspiring because we see a community working to preserve its way of life,” said Meier. “By their actions, our patrons are encouraging us to continue our business in this community as long as we are able, and we thank them for their support.”

“Thank you to everyone who has supported El Mezcal during this challenging time,” said Aguirre. “We hope to be able to see all of you soon!”
