Student Involved in December School Bomb Threat Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor

Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) A Marshfield High School student involved in making false bomb threats at the school last December has pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor counts of intentionally giving a false alarm during a plea hearing Wednesday, according to court records.

Alyssa Portz, 18, was initially charged with being a party to making terrorist threats, a felony. On December 9, Portz informed an assistant principle of finding a bomb threat written in the girl’s bathroom. A school resource officer found multiple written threats referencing a date of 12-18-19.

Portz later admitted that she had discussed writing the threats on Dec. 9 with fellow student Simone Rootellis. Rootellis, 18, wrote the threats and was encouraged to write additional threats by Portz. Rootellis at first denied involvement and then claimed it was done as a joke.

Rootellis pleaded not guilty to on Feb. 18 to being a party to making terrorist threats. A final pre-trial is scheduled for Rootellis on June 19.

Sentencing details for Portz were not listed as of Thursday.
