Stratford volleyball sweeps Auburndale to nab WIAA Division 3 regional title

STRATFORD – The Stratford volleyball team continued its quest for another state tournament berth after capturing another regional title.

Stratford swept Auburndale 25-16, 25-16, 25-12, in a WIAA Division 3 regional final Saturday night at Stratford High School to advance to next week’s sectional.

Stratford will play Fall Creek in a D-3 sectional semifinal at Neillsville High School at 7 p.m. Thursday. Fall Creek beat Abbotsford 3-1 on Saturday.

Oconto will play Neenah St. Mary Catholic in another sectional semifinal Thursday and the winners will battle for a state tournament berth next Saturday, Oct. 27, in a sectional final at Neenah St. Mary Catholic.

Mazie Nagel had 17 kills and 16 digs for the Tigers. Jadyn Dahlke had 19 assists and five kills, Brooke Petersen added 16 assists and six kills, and Blaire Lindner added five kills for Stratford.

Mackenzie Raab had five kills, 11 assists, and 13 digs to lead Auburndale in all three categories. Maggie Willfahrt also had 13 digs, Teryn Lau had four kills and eight digs, and Georgi Schmutzer had 11 assists as well for the Apaches.
