Stratford boys basketball edges Marathon, remains perfect at 6-0

MARATHON – The Stratford boys basketball team remained unbeaten this season with a 52-50 victory over Marathon in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Thursday night at Marathon High School.

The Tigers led 28-16 at halftime before Marathon closed the gap, but Stratford was able to hold on for the victory.

Stratford is now 6-0 overall and in the Marawood South, while Marathon falls to 5-2 and 3-2 in conference play.

Vaughn Breit scored 16 points, Teddy Redman added 11 points and nine steals, and Ben Barten had 10 points and six rebounds for Stratford.

Stratford will play Stevens Point Pacelli on Dec. 27 and Almond-Bancroft on Dec. 28 at the UW-Stevens Point Holiday Classic.
