Straight Truck vs SUV Crash in Port Edwards

PORT EDWARDS, WI (OnFocus) – On June 29 at 8:02pm, the Wood County Dispatch Center received a call of a crash at the intersection of Hwy 173 and Hwy GG.

The initial investigation indicates a Sport Utility vehicle failed to yield the right away from Hwy GG while crossing Hwy 173. This action caused the SUV to crash into a Straight Truck traveling northbound on Hwy 173.

Due to injuries sustained from crash the operator of the SUV was transported by Life Link Helicopter to Marshfield Medical Center. The driver of the Straight Truck was treated at the scene and released. No passengers were involved in in the crash.

The condition of the SUV driver is unknown at this time. The accident remains under investigation.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Nekoosa Police Department, Port Edwards Police Department, Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance Service, Nekoosa Fire Department, Port Edwards Township First Responders, Wood County Rescue, Nieman’s Tow Service and Life Link III.
