Stoney River Puts the FUN in Fundraising

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – A lot of fun was had by Stoney River Marshfield team members, residents and families while raising $1,602 for a serious cause, the fight against Alzheimer’s, a disease that the assisted living and memory support community professionals hope to help fund a cure for one day soon.

Stoney River managers enthusiastically joined their team’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising efforts—even if that meant taking a pie in the face!

Donations poured in for the pie-in-the-face contest to see Stoney River’s leaders covered in whipped cream! “Our concierge Betty took one for the team with an unplanned pie in the face, and she did so with grace and a big smile,” said Stoney River’s Lifestyle Specialist, Meranda Lelonek, who helped plan the events. Other fundraising efforts included a popular bratwurst fry, dessert silent auction, and raffle prizes drawings.

“Stoney River residents and families jumped right in with enthusiasm to help our team raise $1,602 for the Alzheimer’s Association in a short amount of time, which was very impressive!” said Stoney River’s Executive Director, Sarah Krenn. “On the day of the Alzheimer’s Walk, I was so inspired to see the community come out to raise money and awareness for a cause close to our hearts and one that deeply affects the lives of our memory care residents and their families.”

Stoney River’s memory support community is separate from assisted living in its own, custom-designed building at 1606 N. St. Joseph Ave., Marshfield, WI. The thoughtful layout combined with Stoney River’s uniquely positive and highly personalized approach to caring for those who have Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia provides an environment where residents can continue to live well and flourish.

Specially trained team members take time to get to know residents to create wellness plans tailored to each person’s unique temperament and history. Working closely with family members, Stoney River’s team maintains residents’ daily routines, honors their preferences, and forms meaningful connections.

“Every day is about what we can do,” said Stoney River’s Memory Support Manger, Lizz Richards, RN, a geriatric nurse with decades of senior living experience. Richards brings clinical expertise and a personal passion to help people with memory loss live full and meaningful lives at Stoney River.
