Spencer wins eight events at Colby Track Invitational

COLBY – Logan Zschernitz, Mason Barth and Hannah Zastrow each won two individual events as the Spencer track teams had solid success at the Colby Invitational on Tuesday at Colby High School.

The Spencer girls finished third behind Marathon and Stanley-Boyd, and the Spencer boys were fourth in the team standings behind Marathon, Abbotsford and Stanley-Boyd.

Zschernitz won the boys shot put with a throw of 57 feet, 4 inches, and the discus with a toss of 147-1, and Barth took first in the 300-meter hurdles in 43.01 seconds and the pole vault with a vault of 10-6.

Barth also finished second in the long jump (18-5½) and third in the 110 hurdles (16.16) for the Rockets.

Hannah Zastrow won the girls 100 hurdles in 15.78 seconds and the high jump with a leap of 5 feet. She also teamed with Jorie Meyer, Heavyn Kind and Faith Miller to win the 1,600 relay in 4:34.03.

Spencer also had a victory in the 800 relay as Meyer, Kind, Miller and Leah Zastrow won in 1:58.91.

Columbus Catholic also competed at the meet and had two top-three finishes. Noah Eckelberg won the boys 1,600 in 4:38.93 and Emmalee Jicinsky took third in the girls long jump (14-11).
