Spencer/Columbus Use Strong Fourth Quarter to Win CWC Large Opener

Nekoosa (OnFocus) – The Spencer/Columbus Rockets scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Nekoosa Papermakers and win their first game in the Central Wisconsin Large Conference 27-8.

SC would get on the board first with a 42-yard touchdown run from Eden Jacobson, Gage Stratman would hit the extra point

Nekoosa would respond on a 3 yard run by Hunter Lochner, Ethan Hoogesteger would run in the two-point conversion and Nekoosa would take an 8-7 lead into the halftime break.

No one would score in the third quarter but SC would start the scoring in the fourth with a 5 yard touchdown run from Jacobson, Jacobson would also run in the 2pt conversion giving SC a 15-8 lead.

Jacobson would get back into the end zone again this time with a 7 yard touchdown run, Strathman’s extra point would be blocked making the score 21-8.

Dominic Post would find the endzone next on a 10 yard run, Strathman’s kick would be blocked again giving us our final score of 27-8.

Jacobson would lead the offense for the Rockets with 27 carries 179 yards rushing and 2 catches for 18 yards. Strathman would go 2-6 for 18 yards.

Spencer outgained Nekoosa 222 yards to 71.

Nekoosa led on the ground by Weston Rood with 6 carries for 41 yards, Hunter Lochner would add 12 carries for 27 yards and the 1 touchdown.
