Soyk Ties School Record with 9 Three-Pointers in Abbotsford’s Win over Chequamegon

Abbotsford (OnFocus) – Senior Night for the Abbotsford Falcon Boys Basketball Team had the makings of a typical senior night for high school sports.

Lights dimmed. Intro music. Hyped up introductions of seniors with an extra flavor of messages for each senior. Mission accomplished. The Falcons capped off the night with an impressive win, downing Chequamegon by a score of 74-57.

To add to the night, seniors Hunter Soyk and Cade Faber made sure it was a night to remember for their performances.

Soyk went wild from three point territory, connecting on 9 of 19 three-pointers for a game and season-high 29 points. The effort tied Soyk in the Abbotsford record book with Ethan Kramas.

Faber poured in 24 points, collecting a triple double with 19 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals.

The pair combined for the Falcons’ first 15 points, with Soyk draining a trio of three pointers and accounting for 11 points.

Abbotsford built a comfortable  lead at the half, 43-26, and after the break, pushed the lead to 20 with 4 minutes remaining.

With the record near on the horizon, Soyk made a push with a pair of threes to produce the final score, 74-48.  Abbotsford’s push in the final two minutes to see Soyk drain another proved to come up short and the senior guard had a night to remember.

• Cade Faber – Getting 1000 points off of a lob and dunking it
• Mason Carpenter – When I blocked a kid off the backboard and Brandon Diedrich got, passed it to Cade who then dunked it
• Ryan Gunderson – Shooting 3’s and watching them swish the net!
