Shelter in Wisconsin Rapids Seeks Donations

UPDATE: 76 Dogs Seized in Wood County

Developing Story – Due to the recent influx of seized dogs, South Wood County Humane Society (SWCHS) will be closed Saturday, September 22. The seized dogs will not be available for viewing or adoption. Phone calls will not be answered as all of staff will be caring for the dogs.

At this time, the reason for the influx of dogs is unknown. OnFocus staff will follow up with details as they become available.

“We would really appreciate all donations to help with this situation,” said a statement on their Facebook page. “Thank you so much for all of your support!”

The main things needed are:

  • Small breed dry dog food
  • Wet dog food
  • Puppy pads
  • Towels
  • Dog Toys
  • Non-latex gloves
  • Dish soap
  • Laundry soap
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Mop Bucket and Mop would appreciated as well

Donations will be accepted at the door from 10am-3pm at the shelter.

SWCHS is a private non-profit animal welfare organization. Every day, the SWCHS shelter provides care to 200 dogs, cats, and small animals. Continued support is needed and appreciated as they strive to continue to improve the welfare of their community’s pets.
