Shopko Optical Moving to Downtown Marshfield in October

Tentative Opening Date Set for New Location

Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) A tentative opening date has been set for a new Shopko Optical location in Marshfield.

Currently operating inside the now-closed Shopko store on N. Central, the optical center will be moving to 717 S. Central Ave. and currently plans to open October 14, according to a company spokesperson.

The retail portion of Shopko in Marshfield closed in late June after the Green Bay-based company filed for bankruptcy in January. It later announced in March that it had failed to find a buyer and would close all of its 360-plus locations.

Its optical business was purchased for $8.5 million by private investment company Monarch Alternative Capital LP in May. Shopko Optical plans to relocate 81 freestanding locations by November, 41 of those in Wisconsin, with continued growth next year. It will continue providing the same services and insurance plans as before.
