(OnFocus) Shopko Optical is set to open in a new freestanding location at 717 S. Central Ave next Monday (Oct. 28).
The location continued to operate inside Shopko on N. Central Ave. even after the store’s June closing date. Serving the location is Optometrist Dr. Lawrence Smith, according to a press release.
Dr. Smith graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry and is Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent (TPA) certified.
Shopko’s optical business was purchased in May for $8.5 million by private investment company Monarch Alternative Capital LP with plans to open 80 freestanding locations by November, half of those in Wisconsin. Further growth is expected next year and beyond.
Shopko first declared bankruptcy in January and later announced in March that all of its stores would close after failing to find a buyer.
Most major vision plans including EyeMed Vision Care and Spectara are accepted. To certify coverage, book an appointment with an optometrist, or find a Shopko Optical center, visit Shopko.com.
