MARATHON COUNTY, WI (OnFocus) – In a 39-vehicle pileup on HWY 51 on Friday, Feb. 18, one police officer went above and beyond expectations after being involved in a dangerous accident.
After his squad car was involved in the wreck, Officer Jeff Buettner had minor injuries but stuck to the task at hand. His squad was totaled but he was able to exit the vehicle through a window to assist other motorists and provide help to first responders.
Buettner gathered information from motorists caught up in the accident and provided that information to first responders upon arrival.
The Shawano Police Department expressed gratitude for Buettner and his actions during the event.
“We are thankful and blessed that Officer Buettner was able to walk away from the crash with minor injuries,” the department said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the other drivers, passengers, and their families for a speedy recovery.”
