Stevens Point, WI (OnFocus) Sentry Insurance Foundation presented the Stevens Point Police Department with a $20,000 check Monday morning toward a new K9 officer.
The department was rocked last week by the sudden decline of K9 Luna, who passed of multiple organ failure on Sept. 4 after exposure to a poisonous mushroom. The Belgian Malinois began her career in April 2018 with K9 Fala.
While there’s usually a waiting list, Luna’s kennel has moved the department up in priority. Luna’s handler, Officer J.D. Ballew, will be partnered with the new K9.
