ARPIN, WI (OnFocus) – Sunday morning, August 15, 2021 dawned crystal clear and cool as 69 WISPORT/Badger State Games bicycle racers from WI, MN and St Martin (Caribbean) aged 14 to 78 stood astride their bikes at the base of the East ascent of Powers Bluff ready to attack the 48 mile 2nd annual “2021 Bluff to Bluff Road Bicycle” race course.

A lead peloton of 45 men and women quickly formed, revealing the depth of strength and skill present. The first 12 miles of the race experienced few attacks out of deep respect for the final mile Powers Bluff climb to the finish enabling the peloton to remain intact to the base of Cary Bluff.

The Men’s KOM Preem (King of Mountain) at the top of the final Cary Bluff climb was successfully captured by 15-year-old Rolandio JoJo Lake of the Caribbean Island of St Martin and the women’s KOM by Jenny Youngwerth of Neenah, WI.

A peloton of 40 formed after the Cary Bluff climbs cruising through the forests of Lindsey until, in anticipation of the Sprint Preem at mile 36, a strong push up front shattered the peloton. Jenny Youngwerth captured the women’s Sprint Preem and Matt Muyeres of Minneapolis the men’s. At this point a two-man attack escaped and sustained to the finish with a chase peloton of 26 in unsuccessful pursuit to the finish.
