Trevor Schwecke, a 2016 graduate of Marshfield High School, has begun his professional baseball career with the Vancouver Canadians in British Columbia, Canada.

Vancouver is a Class A short season affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Schwecke, who played three years collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, was picked in the 13th round with the 387th overall selection by the Blue Jays in the Major League Baseball Draft earlier this month.

Through June 19, Schwecke played in five games for Vancouver at shortstop and is hitting .200, going 4-for-20 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI.

He had his best game thus far on Wednesday night, going 2-for-4 in a 3-1 loss to the Eugene (Ore.) Emeralds, a Chicago Cubs affiliate.

Vancouver (2-4) wraps up its four-game home stand against Eugene on Thursday afternoon.

Schwecke, 21, was a second-team All-Horizon League honoree his first two seasons for UW-Milwaukee before earning first-team honors this season. He hit .335 with 74 hits, 20 doubles, three triples, four home runs and a team-high 54 RBIs this spring for the Panthers.
