Schindler scores late game-winner as Marshfield boys hockey edges D.C. Everest

MARSHFIELD – Sawyer Schindler scored with just under 6 minutes remaining to lift the Marshfield boys hockey team to a 4-1 win over D.C. Everest in a Wisconsin Valley Conference contest Tuesday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.

The Tigers (8-3, 2-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference) pulled out to a 3-1 lead after the first period as Isaiah Baierl, Nick Urban and Isaac Wellens tallied goals.

Everest fought back, tying the game on goals by Ben Peloquin and Ty Tretter, the latter coming 8:04 into the third period.

Schindler, off an assist from Ryan Krueger and Ben Baur, put Marshfield back in front with 5:50 remaining in the game and the Tigers held on from there.

A.J. Trierweiler made 27 saves in goal for Marshfield, as Everest (1-6, 1-2 WVC) outshot the Tigers 30-20.

Marshfield will play a nonconference game at Waupaca on Thursday.
