Saturday’s Empty Bowls Fundraiser Postponed

(OnFocus) The Empty Bowls fundraiser benefiting Soup or Socks food pantry scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at Hotel Marshfield has been cancelled. The event is expected to be rescheduled for a later date yet to be announced.

Originally, in response to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19), hotel staff developed a plan to sanitize public areas every 30 minutes. Staff were required to wash their hands every 20 minutes and stay home if ill.

“With a heavy heart, out of concern for our guests and volunteers, we have made the difficult decision to postpone tomorrow’s event. We will keep you updated with future plans. Thank you for your support,” the group said in a statement on Facebook.

There have been cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Wisconsin, but none in Wood or Marathon Counties. Seven of those have occurred in the last week.
