Realignment Proposal for Football-Only Conference Changes Would Impact 7 Conferences

Marshfield (OnFocus) – A group of schools and conferences in central  and northern Wisconsin have developed a proposal for football-only conference changes that has been submitted to the WIAA.

The proposal affects seven different conferences and multiple schools switching conferences. The proposal explains that these changes would be the least number of changes necessary for the benefit of affected schools and conferences.

  • Middle Border
  • Lakeland
  • Cloverbelt
  • Marawood

Area Schools changing conferences in the proposal:

  • Wausau East – to the Great Northern
  • Ashland – to the Heart O’ North
  • Hayward – the the Heart O’ North
  • Fall Creek – Cloverbelt to the Marawood

Conference realignment solution: 
We know full well and appreciate the time and energy spent in developing the 
football districts, a great deal of thought was put into the districts and we do not take the 
request we are making without acknowledging that. While there is no “easy solution” 
that will not impact a number of schools, the change that impacts the least is as follows.

Another solution would involve many moving parts, conferences and schools; as
a result there may be a number more schools impacted by another solution.  We do
realize an unknown number of other schools may request a conference/district change.
Our above solution is one with the smallest moving parts.
