Rafters Rack Up Runs and Homers in Sweep Over Dock Spiders

Stroh & Favors ignite Rafters seventh straight win to finish homestand

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. – As the great Forrest Gump once said, “Life is like a box of chocolates.  You never know what you are going to get.”  Well, for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters right now, nobody knows who the hero is going to be on any given night in a Rafters win.  Tonight, outfielder Seth Stroh and reliever Caden Favors powered the Rafters to a 7-2 win over the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders for their seventh straight win in a row.

Just as the same as last night, Rafters starter Michael Lindsey gave up a two-out solo homer to first baseman Grant Hussy to give Fond du Lac Dock Spiders, 1-0.  Ben Ross and Chase Call led off the bottom of the first with singles for the Rafters, but they were left stranded to end the first.  However, after Lindsey tossed a top half of the second, Seth Stroh launched a solo homer to tie up the game, 1-1.

Lindsey stranded two Dock Spiders in the top of the third to end his night.  The Rafters starter threw three innings while giving up three hits, no walks, and recorded four strikeouts.  The Rats bats came alive in the bottom of the third for one their 2022 trademark big innings.  Wisconsin Rapids put up four runs in the third off three hits.  Ben Ross scored via a wild pitch, and Jacob Igawa hit an RBI single.  Garrett Broussard reached base on a fielder’s choice, which brought home Brendan Bobo.  Broussard stole home on a first and third play, which gave the Rafters a 5-1 lead.

Caden Favors was called on relief for the Rafters in the fourth, as he retired the side in order in his first two innings.  He threw another scoreless sixth inning, and then Seth Stroh struck again.  He hit a leadoff solo homer in the bottom of the sixth, his second of the night, to give the Rafters a 6-1 lead.  Favors threw a scoreless seventh and then exited the game.  His final line was four scoreless innings, one hit, no walks, and eight strikeouts.  Connor Kurki threw a 1-2-3 top of the eighth inning for Wisconsin Rapids, as the Rafters put one more on the board in the bottom half when Joe Osborn stole home for his third stolen base of the night to put the Rafters ahead, 7-1.  Malakai Vetock came into pitch for the Rafters in the ninth, as he gave up a homer to Daylen Reyes to bring the score to 7-2.  Vetock retired the new three Dock Spiders to give the Rafters a 7-2 victory and their seventh in a row.  Caden Favors received the victory for the Rafters.
