(OnFocus) Port Edwards Police Chief Scott Drew recently helped save a 20-year-old male while assisting the Wood County Sheriff’s Department with an ambulance call in the Town of Cranmoor.

The male was did not have a pulse and was not breathing, according to the department. Drew was the first on scene and started life-saving measures. After recognizing that the unconscious male might be overdosing, Drew administered Narcan, a narcotic overdose medication used in emergencies.

Drew continued to perform CPR until deputies and medical personnel arrived. His quick actions saved the man’s life.

“We thank Chief Drew for going beyond the call of duty,” stated the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. “If he did not respond, the outcome of this call could have been worse. This shows working as a team only provides better service countywide.”
