City to Enter New Contract with Iconica

Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) The City of Marshfield will end its contract with architectural and engineering services firm Ayres Associates, which has worked with the city since 2016 on the upcoming Marshfield Outdoor Aquatic Center.

The City plans to enter into a new contract with Madison-based Iconica, a sub-contractor for Ayres Associates and a key partner in the development of the project. Two employees who have worked with the City through the process have left Ayres to form their own company and Iconica, which was hired for architectural services, plans to take on the contract and retain those employees.

Ayres Associates agreed to close the contract and assist the City with the transition. There will be no cost increase to the original contract set at $329,050, of which $242,660 was paid by the City. The new contract with Iconica for architectural services is set at the remaining balance of $86,390.

“Ayres and Iconica have been very agreeable and friendly to work with,” said Justin Casperson, Parks and Recreation Director.

The Board of Public Works approved the termination of the contract with Ayres Associates and the new contract with Iconica. The item will require approval by the Common Council, which will also receive an update by Casperson next week on a possible adjustment to the construction schedule.

The aquatic center is projected for an opening in summer 2021 on the current Hefko Pool site. To accomplish this timeline, bids must be let by March 1, said Casperson. Fundraising for $3 million in private funds will continue until the goal is met.

The City of Marshfield has committed to a matching grant of $3 million and voted last November to contribute an additional $500,000 for soft costs.
