One local business, PreventionGenetics, is getting creative with their United Way Campaign in an effort to raise more money for the cause, and have a little fun in the process.

PreventionGenetics, located in the Millcreek Business Park, hosted a Halloween Walk/Run event as a part of their Annual United Way Campaign. Employees participated in the event and many wore their Halloween costumes while running/walking.

Danielle Krohn, United Way Campaign committee member at PreventionGenetics, said that this event is part of a two-week campaign at their business to help promote awareness for their drive.

PreventionGenetics set a considerable goal of $13,000 this year to contribute to the United Way Drive Campaign.

Creative campaigns like the one at PreventionGenetics not only raise funds but they also help raise awareness about United Way in general.

United Way Drive Chair Jill Holm believes that awareness is important.

Our goal as the 2016 Drive Chair Family is to help bring awareness to needs in the community. We feel, for future society leadership, that it’s imperative for our youth to understand that we as adults have a responsibility to give back to our community and help where we can,” she said.

She is very encouraged by the outpouring support from individuals and businesses in the community. She said that has been the most overwhelming part about being involved in the drive.  For anyone looking to get involved, please contact Paula or Ashley at the United Way Office at 715-384-9992.

Holm said there are so many valuable programs that the United Way supports, “it would be nearly impossible to choose any one in particular that is more important to us.”
