Pittsville Fire Company Welcomes 70 Firefighters to Learn About Water Safety

OnFocus – On Saturday, Jan. 23, the Pittsville Fire Company welcomed over 70 personnel from 12 agencies to Pittsville to attend a Practical Ice Rescue certification and refresher.

Other Departments that had personnel in attendance included: Auburndale, Baraboo, Biron, Grand Rapids, Lyndon Station, Nekoosa, Remington, Richfield Rural, Wisconsin Large Animal Rescue, Wood County Dispatch, and Wood Co Sheriffs Rescue.

Participants went through a morning training session before hitting the ice for a hands-on portion of training. Members of the training were shown how to properly rescue someone who has fallen through the ice and is struggling to climb out.
