PITTSVILLE, WI (OnFocus) – Attention bargain hunters – head to the Pittsville area on Saturday, September 11th for the 30th All City Rummage Sale. The fun starts at 8 a.m. and continues on into late afternoon.
Over 40 locations will have sales. Shoppers need nourishment, so numerous food stands staffed by non-profit organizations will be available. Maps directing visitors to sale locations in both the city and surrounding area will be available at Baum’s Mercantile and at many sale locations.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this event was not held in 2020 so organizers are predicting a large number of sales and a great selection of items.
The first All-City Rummage Sale was held in 1990 and started by Pittsville resident Glenna Bushman.
“The year prior I held a garage sale, and heard about other communities doing a city-wide event,” recalled Bushman. “So I talked to a few friends, we had a meeting, and launched the next year. People were amazed at the number of cars and buyers that came to Pittsville that day!”
Over the past 30 years, many volunteers have contributed to organizing and promoting the event, which annually takes place the Saturday after Labor Day. Through it all, Bushman has remained involved and has satisfaction in being part of a “community-building” activity.
