Pancakes or Waffles? A Closer Look at Mosinee Student-Athlete Tristan Wicklund

Mosinee multi-sport athlete Tristan Wicklund is finishing her high school career before heading on to St. Norbert to play hockey, and we caught up with the senior standout to get a Closer look at what makes her ‘tick’ with our world-famous interview: Pancakes or Waffles?

OnFocus: What are your favorite subjects/classes and why?

Wicklund: My favorite subjects are anything that is in the science department.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?

Wicklund:Some hobbies I enjoy doing are sports, hunting, fishing, hiking, and overall just being outside.

OnFocus: What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Wicklund: Always work hard and never be satisfied with just being average. If you put in the work
you will see the end result.

OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?

Wicklund: My favorite teacher is Mr. Lindsey, he pushes me everyday to be a better version of myself and has taught me life lessons I will use for the rest of my life.

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?

Wicklund: Calamari

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?

Wicklund: Country

OnFocus: What are your plans after high school?

Wicklund: After high school I will be attending St. Norbert to further my academic and athletic career in hockey.

OnFocus: What sports do you play?

 Wicklund: Hockey, Volleyball, Softball

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted
island?

Wicklund:I would not want to be stranded on a deserted island with Ava Busse because  she would just laugh the entire time.

OnFocus: What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?

Wicklund: While being a senior I have made numerous memories, some of my favorites being winning state my sophomore and senior year in high school hockey. Another being my whole high school volleyball career. Lastly, beating Medford last year on their own home
field to split the conference.

OnFocus: Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?

Wicklund: My favorite athlete is Brianna Decker.

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?

Wicklund: I love having a huge crowd to perform in front of. It gives not only yourself but your whole team a chance to showcase all of your hard work and dedication to the sport.

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Mosinee?

Wicklund: The best thing about being a student athlete is being given the opportunity to take your talent and put it towards your school.

OnFocus: What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Wicklund: Always work hard and never be satisfied with just being average. If you put in the work you will see the end result.

Wicklund: Waffles
