Ruth E. Lubach, age 100, of Marshfield, and formerly of Chippewa Falls, passed away on September 12, 2019 at home.

Ruth, the third of six children, was born on February 12, 1919, in Chippewa Falls to Frank and Harriet Durch. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from high school in Chippewa Falls. Ruth held various jobs including working at the Chippewa Falls Theater and Mason Shoes in Chippewa Falls, but was primarily employed in the family-owned grocery store in Cornell, Wisconsin.

She married Loyal Lubach on May 30, 1948 and together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage until Loyal’s death on December 28, 2001. After retiring from the grocery store, they moved to King City, California and later relocated to Lancaster, California. Ruth and Loyal returned to Wisconsin in 1991 and settled in Chippewa Falls.

Ruth was an accomplished homemaker, a charming hostess, and a skilled seamstress making many of her children’s clothing. In her younger years, Ruth was musically inclined and taught herself to play piano. Ruth especially enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Lake Holcombe. In 2002, Ruth moved to Marshfield to spend the sunset of her life near her son and daughter-in-law. Ruth was a member of Zion Methodist Church where she volunteered her time. She enjoyed reading, writing letters and especially baking. She was heartbroken when her eyesight failed and she couldn’t do the things she most enjoyed. Ruth’s most cherished moments in life came from time spent with her family.

Ruth was a much loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend, and she will be remembered by her daughter, Susan (Ivan) Kornblau of San Diego and sons, Randy Lubach of Eau Claire and Lance (Cheryl) Lubach of Marshfield.

She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Andrea Kornblau, Karolyn (Tim) Vollmar, Nicholas Lubach, Alana Lubach (Mitch Anderson), Joshua (Beth) Wright and Jennifer (Mike) Bratz, along with two great grandsons, Brayden and Otto. She is further survived by sister-in-law, Barbara Lubach, along with nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held later this fall. Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family and internment will be at the Tilden Cemetery in Tilden, Wisconsin. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Marshfield Clinic Health System and to Dr. Eram Rahim and Jenny for providing healthcare to Ruth for many years, and to the staff at Stoney River Assisted Living.
