Obituary for Roger Kohlbeck

Roger D. Kohlbeck, 83, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Three Oaks Health Services in Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 22, 2022 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield with Rev. Daniel Williams officiating. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 54, Marshfield at the church following the service. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield at a later date.

The visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 21 at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time Friday at church. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.

Roger was born on July 23, 1938 in Marshfield to Wenzel and Laura (Schallock) Kohlbeck. He attended St. Joseph School in Hewitt and graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1956. Roger served in the United States Army from 1956-1957 and then in the Army Reserves from 1956-1962. He met Geraldine L. “Gerri” McCulloch, the love of his life and future wife, in the 4th grade. They were married on August 9, 1958 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield. She passed away on August 26, 2014.

Roger worked for his dad at Hewitt Concrete Works from 1950-1957, Praschak Machine Company from 1956-1957, and Felker Brothers Corp from 1957-1998. He and his wife Gerri volunteered for Meals on Wheels from 2000-2004. Roger was a member of the American Legion Post 54, Knights of Columbus Council 1799, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 624.

He loved his wife, kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, woodworking, traveling, going to the casino, and baseball (playing, coaching and watching). Roger was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Wisconsin Badgers.

He is survived by his children, Debbie (Mark) Kroening of Arpin, Vicki (Lee) Williams of Marshfield, Vicki Kohlbeck of Mukwanago, and Connie (Gregg) Greenwald of Marshfield. He is also survived by grandchildren, Troy (Lindsey) Kroening, Tara (Dan) Grossman, Tami (Jordan) Griffith, Traci (Alan) Burkart, Juan (Jen) Murillo, Jesse Williams, Luke Williams, Makala (Zac) Cook, and Kerenna Kohlbeck. His great grandchildren include Lucy, Caspar, Josephine, Michael, Matthias, Cecilia, and Loretta Kroening, Derek, Brooke, Kailyn, Alleah, Tyler, and Riley Grossman, Kaylee, Teegan, Scarlett, Rayna, and Tiana Griffith, Megan and Kayla Burkart, and Paolo Murillo, with more on the way.

He is further survived by his siblings, Harold “Coke” (Barb) Kohlbeck, Janet Diers, Marilynn (Paul) Zimmerman, and Pat Verkilen, all of Marshfield, brother-in-law, Harold Anderson of Wisconsin Rapids, and special friend, Nell Schwantes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gerri, son, Gary Kohlbeck, 3 great grandchildren, Faith, Angel, and Hope Kroening, sister, Donna Anderson, brother, Robert Kohlbeck and his wife, Marlene, and in-laws, Al Diers, Dennis Tesmer, Tom Verkilen, Doris (Jack) Curtin, Donna (Larry) Kappel, Carol (Lawrence) Heintz, and Manley (Lee) McCulloch.
