Obituary for Raymond W. Schofield

Raymond W. “Sonny” Schofield, age 95, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at his home in the Town of Unity.

To honor Sonny’s wishes, his family will hold a Celebration of Life Memorial on the home farm later this year. Date and time will be posted on our website.

Ray was born on October 29, 1924 in the Town of Unity, Clark County, the son of Archie “Lee” and Belle (Hulce) Schofield. He joined the U.S. Army in September of 1950 and faithfully served this country until his honorable discharge in September of 1952. He was united in marriage to Patricia Hendrickson on December 16, 1961 in the United Methodist Church in Spencer. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm which now in 2020 is a 5th generation dairy farm operation.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, shooting pool or playing cards with family and friends. He was avid sports fan for the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers and liked to keep up his wits doing crossword puzzles.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Patricia; his two children: Randall (Melanie) Schofield of Spencer and Carla (Kenneth) Rottscheit of Stratford; his grandchildren: Lance, Michael, Austin, Korey, Skyler and Sterling; his two great-grandchildren: Olivia and Noah; his sisters Vera Smith of Tomah and Myrna Schofield of Hazelhurst; his brother-in-law Wayne Hendrickson along with many other relatives neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Archie and Belle; his brother Richard, his sister Ramona in infancy and sisters Flossie, Nola, Betty, Jeanne and Beulah.

The family would like to thank Dr. Koehler and Jackie Pfeifer and their staff at the Marshfield Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ray’s name to the House of the Dove.
