Paul A. Rokus, 74, Vesper, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville where visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time. A private burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Vesper.

Paul was born on May 28, 1947 in Wisconsin Rapids to Albert and Inez Liebenstein.  He graduated from Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.  On July 25, 1970, he was united in marriage to Joanne “Jo” Scheunemann at St. James Catholic Church in Vesper. He worked for the Nekoosa Paper Mill from 1965 until his retirement in 2006.

Paul had many hobbies, including working on cars, watching NASCAR, planting trees, watching birds, visiting with friends and telling the best stories. He also was an avid gun collector with a special talent for reloading ammunition. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting, and being outdoors. Paul was a very intelligent man with an insatiable thirst for learning. He could fix anything, and he had a love for life, with a profound faith in God and love for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne “Jo”, sons, Paul Jr. “Toby” (Jamie) Rokus and Michael (Paula) Rokus, daughter, Cortney (Justin) Davis, and grandchildren, Kolby, Karlee, and Kasen Davis, Tristan and Dylan Rokus, and Emma Rokus.  He is further survived by brother, Dan (Sarah) Rokus and sister, Joan (Randy) Larsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jo’s parents, Milton and Laura Scheunemann, and brother Larry “Pete” Rokus.
