Matthew “Matt” K. Phelps, age 42, of Marshfield passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center, following an extended illness with cancer.
Matt was born on May 3, 1976 in Wisconsin Rapids, the son of Keith & Lois Phelps. He graduated from Wisconsin Rapids High School and lived much of his adult life in Marshfield. Most recently Matt worked for Custom Fabricating & Repair in Marshfield.
Matt was a kind, true person with an innocent heart. He was that guy to give his shirt off his back to a friend. He had many friends, and particularly loved the company of the very nourishing, supportive communities at North Ridge Church and AA. Matt also loved car racing and was a proud Green Bay Packer fan.
Matt is survived by his parents Keith and Lois, brothers Michael and Mark, nephew Brandon and niece Lilly, and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is also survived by his special girlfriend Chrissy and his beloved cat Snowball. He will be dearly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Reverend Preston Tippen officiating. A visitation will take place from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at Marshfield Clinic & Medical Center, particularly the Palliative Care unit. Also special thanks to the staff at Custom Fabricating & Repair and the congregations of North Ridge and Eastgate churches for their support of Matt and his family.
