Obituary for Loretta Tritz

Loretta Ann (Wenzel) Tritz, 97, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at House of the Dove Hospice in Marshfield.

Loretta was born Nov. 5, 1924 in Stratford, WI to Louis Wenzel and Anna (Frodl) Wenzel. She attended Marathon Pride School, St. Joseph Catholic School, and graduated with the class of 1942 from Stratford High School.

She began working at the Johnson Company, sewing raincoats for the war effort. It was at that time that she met and later married Norman Tritz on June 21, 1945 at St. Joseph Church in Stratford. She and Norm were former charter members of St. John’s and the Diocesan Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Programs, a leader in the Christian Family Movement. She was treasurer of the Home and School Program at St. John’s and also a den mother for the Cub Scout program at St. John School.
After raising seven children, Loretta began working at the St. Joseph Hospital dietary department from 1973-1986.

Hobbies included being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading, crosswords, cross stitch, working at the election polls, music, volunteer work with the local Democratic Party and recording the family tree. She was known by friends and family alike for her phenomenal memory and wonderful homemade apple pies.

Loretta is survived by children – Ann (Jerry) Kirsling of Menomonie, Jeanne (Jim) Dean of Rosemount, MN, Glen of Madison, Gary (Mary Schroth) of Madison, Gordon (Anne Stauber) of Sheboygan, Mark of Marshfield, Lois of Eau Claire. Grandchildren Jared (Julia) Kirsling, Eric (Anna) Kirsling, Adam (Erin) Kirsling, Jason (Rebecca) Dean, Jeff (SheriAnn Murphy) Dean, Jennifer (Matthew) Nelson, Elliott (Ashley) Tritz, and Aaron Tritz. Great Grandchildren include Alison and Nicholas Kirsling, Kellen Kirsling, Alex Kirsling, Elliott, James and Andrew Dean, Maxwell, Keara and Declan Dean, Genevieve and Dax Nelson, and Max and Madelyn Tritz.

She is further survived by brother Donald Wenzel and Sisters Alice Fisher, Sr. Margaret Wenzel, FSPA. Brothers- and Sisters-in-law Marie Wenzel, Delphine Kaiser, Ben Tritz, Donald (Virginia) Tritz, Harold Tritz, Ralph (Carrie) Tritz,  Susan (Jerry) Wirtz, Sandra Tritz, Leland (Judy) Tritz, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents Louis and Anna Wenzel, her loving husband of 66 years Norm, siblings Raymond (Rose and Marie) Wenzel, Walter Wenzel, Agnes Neuwirth Meyer (Victor and Peter), Alfred Wenzel, Marie (Ludwig) Grassl, Leo (Mildred) Wenzel, and Sr. Dorothy Wenzel, FSPA, brother-in-law Sylvester Fisher, parents-in-law Benedict and Susan Tritz, brothers and sisters-in-law Marita (Joseph) Krause, Cyril (Marian) Tritz, Marvin (Kathleen) Tritz, Edward Kaiser, Carol Tritz, Magdelena Tritz, Gertrude Tritz, Sr. Mary Hope Tritz, SSND, Ruth Tritz, Kenneth Tritz.

Loretta’s family would like to express our sincere thanks to the wonderful care provided by the House of the Dove Hospice. Your compassion and love were so appreciated.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 21 at 10:30 AM where visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the service. Rev. James Weighner will officiate. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

Memorials may be designated to House of the Dove Hospice, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
