Obituary for Lois Giles

Lois E. Giles, 92, Marshfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time. The funeral will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Deacon Ray Draeger of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate, and entombment will be in Hillside Cemetery Mausoleum. Lois would have wanted everyone to dress casual / comfortable and wear jeans.

Lois was born on October 9, 1929 in Stratford, to Frank and Adeline (Doll) Grossbier. She was a 1947 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School.  She was united in marriage to Richard A. Giles on February 27, 1960 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield. He died on February 19, 2008.

Lois had been employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield for over 40 years, retiring in 1991. She resided on East 28th Street until moving to Wells Nature View in May of this year. Lois enjoyed family, bowling, feeding the birds, gardening, flowers and watching the wildlife in the back yard. She was a Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Evelyn Grossbier and Marge Giles and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, including extended great nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Raymond Grossbier, a sister, Lylas Bauer, numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and her beloved cats, Proxie, Scamper, Dixie and Pixie, and her cherished beagles, Susie, Tippy and Candy.

The family thanks Marshfield Medical Center staff and the great staff at Wells Nature View, and Jeremy Linzmeier of Compassus Home Health for all their care and the wonderful neighbors on East 28th Street for all their support throughout the years. A special thank you to Gail and Kurt and Sue and Tim and Journey and Destiny for their love and support over the years.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS).
