Linda Malinda Hill, 98, of Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Wells Nature View in Marshfield under the care of St. Croix Hospice. Her Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 17, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (1131 N. Meridian St.) in Curtiss. Rev. Ken Schmidt will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date.
Linda Malinda Hill was born on November 24, 1921 on the family farm in the Town of Hoard in Clark County to Emil and Elizabeth (Buss) Buss. Linda was given a nickname of “Dutty” as a term of endearment by her maternal grandfather.
She graduated from Midway School, a one room schoolhouse and received her diploma from Owen-Withee High School in 1981. Linda and Rueben Hill were united in marriage on September 23, 1944. The couple lived and farmed where Linda was born. Prior to her marriage, Linda worked in Milwaukee and at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. After her marriage, she was a farmer and homemaker. She and Rueben moved to Marshfield in 2008.
Linda was very active with Bethany Lutheran Church of Owen and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Curtiss. She was involved with St. Paul’s Ladies Aide and both Linda and Rueben sang in the church choir. She was very proud of her German heritage. Linda and Rueben were charter members of the Deutscher Klub of Clark County. She loved to cook and was a natural entertainer. She was known to have the coffee pot on in a matter of minutes. Linda enjoyed playing cards and games. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved and enjoyed her immediate and extended family very much.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sisters: Minnie Schneider, Elda Burtard, Emma Haemer and Anna Schneider and her brother Henry “Hunsy” Buss.
She will be sadly missed by her son James (Julie) Hill of Hewitt and her daughter Rachel (Gerry) Brehm of Monmouth, OR; along with her granddaughter Kristi (Ryan) Loeck of Plymouth, MN; her great-grandchildren: Natalie Elizabeth and Samuel Rueben Loeck and many nieces and nephews.
Linda’s family would like to thank the staff at Wells Nature View and St. Croix Hospice for their exemplary care of their mother.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Curtiss or a charity of your choice.
