Obituary for Leland G. Skibba

Leland G. Skibba, 90, of Junction City, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center.

Leland was born on May 9, 1931 in Stevens Point to the late Daniel and Mathilda (Wayerski) Skibba.

He married Joan M. Catlin on August 28, 1952 at St. Michaels Parish in Junction City, four children followed.

Leland worked as a press operator at Consolidated Papers Inc in Wisconsin Rapids from 1949 to 1953 when he was called to active duty in the United States Army. He served his country in C Battery 567th Field Artillery Battalion, while stationed in Germany. He continued his service in the Army Reserve and received an honorable discharge in 1961.

After active duty he returned home to start Skibba Brothers Trucking with his older brother Daniel Skibba, which included dump trucks, lime spreader trucks and milk hauling. After the trucking dissolved, he became a fieldman for Morning Glory Milk Co. in Marshfield until his retirement.

In earlier days he loved deer hunting with his family and friends, bluegill fishing, a little duck hunting and going to Packer and Brewer games with his brother Arnold. After retirement he built bird houses, wall ornaments and became quite the toy truck maker in his wood shop.

He is survived by his 4 children, Lance (Kathleen) Skibba, Lonnie (Teri) Skibba, Lane Skibba all of Junction City, Lacy (George) Richardson of Milladore; seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Skibba of Whiting and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, a grandson Raymond Skibba, sister Virginia and brothers Daniel and Arnold.

His time spent with family will be severely missed by all those left behind.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, September 24th, 2021 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Junction City where visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time. Father Packi will officiate. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery where military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 485, Rudolph.

Martens/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
