Kerene was born on February 24, 1936, in Marshfield, to Jack and Marcella (Wagner) Kolbeck. Kerene attended Marshfield Catholic schools, beginning with grade School at St. John the Baptist. She was in the first class graduating from Columbus High School which attended all 4 High School years in the new building. She graduated in Spring 1954 and married Daniel Stauss on August 17, 1954. He died on January 13, 2013.

They began married life in Louisiana, while Danny served in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge from Service, they made their life-long home in Marshfield, where they would raise their three children. Being married to a musician, she enjoyed going to many dances! Tent camping was a part of their child-raising years (Dad enjoyed this much more than Mom did!) In later years they “motorhomed” in Florida for 18 Winters, and had countless weekends camping with their family.

Kerene thoroughly enjoyed being a full-time wife and mother. After the “child-raising” was done, she focused on being a Home Care Aide. Once she became a grandma, she devoted her time and energy to being the best Grandma to Jacob, and Alex. The births of her grandsons and great-grandchildren brought immeasurable joy into her life.

Bus trips with her friends to the casinos were her favorite hobby! She missed those trips and her friends this past year. Hopefully, Heaven has a few “hot” slot machines waiting for hers to “hit” on!

This past year was full of medical struggles for Mom. She did her best to keep a positive attitude and was grateful Steve was able to live with her and help her stay in her house as long as possible. She had a brief stay at 3 Oaks before her transfer to The House of the Dove. The compassionate, tender care she received there was such a blessing. Each and every member of their staff gave their heart and soul to ensure Mom’s passing would be as gentle as possible and to help guide us on her final journey. Covid-19 prevented many visitors, but her family was blessed with over 3 months of spending hours each day with her.

Kerene is survived by her son, Steve (Terry) Stauss of Stevens Point, and daughter, Krisan (Bob) Williams of Marshfield. She is also survived by grandsons, Jacob (Cindy) Williams and their children Adam and Athena Kerene of Marshfield, and Alex Williams of Beaver Dam. She is further survived by a brother-in-law Dick (Lois) Stauss of Hortonville, along with nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Danny, and son, David, great-grandson Jack Williams. her parents John (Jack) and Marcella Kolbeck, both of her brothers and their wives Ronald (Helen) Kolbeck and Jon (Eileen) Kolbeck.

Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com or mailed to 215 West 29th Street; Marshfield WI 54449
